Why/how this will be good to have

To expand into and make the Metal space a nicer and safer envirioment a cleaner looking and well laid out workshop. This will make the place a better working place for all.

A group of us met in the space to discuss what needed to be done. A floorplan was surveyed and drawing created. The final layout of equipment is work in progress

  • To delinearate the workshop from existing tenants a division a partition would be needed, this will be made up from storage racking and workbenchs and dividers. We have some storage but will need some more.
  • The floor will be painted (probably slate grey) starting with the bay furtherest from the door.
  • The walls will be cleared of superfulious wiring and other bits and then painted
  • Tool storage on the walls

The plan is arrange the workshop into areas:

Machining area: Harrision Lathe, milling machine, Elliot drill bench
Fabrication area: Air comprerssor and tools, cut off saw, grinder, assembly bench
Welding area: Mig, Tig and arc welders, welding bench
Hot metals area: Forge, anvil, casting equipment
CNC machine area: Space should be allowed for the CNC plasma cutter when it is functional

Actions

Who is taking this forward and what will they do?

There is a quite a lot of work to achieve the final outcome. A few working parties should get quite a lot done.

Start to clear, prepare and paint the floor furthest from the door Partition off from rest of tenants with existing shelving/cupboards As work progresses move towards the door
