Metalspace Improvements
Meeting 2025 19th June with Alan, Ellis, Kristian, Nicholas - about making the Metalspace more Ship-Shape.
It's generally accepted to be 'in need of improvement' - make it more useable, better organised, have better control, and only usable by a tiny niche. 'not working for the HS'.
Wiki proposal to implement the improvements

Lighting
Everybody's big #1
Getting the central bulb in, is easiest and first, and we have access to mark's big ladder
Lighting above the lathe, ellis will make a bracket for - extend 1m+ out, and be drilled into the wall
Maybe other lighting ideas. Kristian will look at wiring options. (avoid sockets or get more?)
CCTV
Is "other people" a problem? and how much? CCTV is switched off and maybe moved.
Wire CCTV in a way that makes it harder to disable. Kristian will look at/do.
Lockable cabinet
For tools we care about - yes. Alan will look to get a large metal cupboard thing.
Clearout
There is tons of shite, so Alan will come with trailer. Ellis keen to help. Toby will be required to identify stuff.
The cement mixer bowl "as bin" should go.
New bin required
Safety
Ellis will look through to see what PPE we have
Nicholas and Kristian think a communal respirator is a good idea. Alan is not so sure. Ellis would like £1500 welding/respirator thing.
PPE box / cupboard / shelf with names on whos it is
Also, we need (to consider) broom / dustpan / vacuum (Ellis keen) - Henry Hoover will do. (pen paper), latex gloves, bin, wipes, blue-roll,
Lock Cabinet
Seems required and people are keen. Alan talks of large metal cabinet. Kristian mentioned doorbot technology.
== B-issues for later==
Ventilation
Fumes from the welder is the main issue, but general extraction is good.
But, in the longer term, setting on the sandblaster where the hammers are (Ellis will clear that area - possibly creating a hammer board)
Then using good extraction (not just throwing sand out of the window), with general space extraction. Possibly fume-hood for the welder (?)
Water
Currently, Ellis wheels water to the HS with a crap funnel. This could be better. Kristian suggested taking rainwater at the same time as making the ventilation.
Less Grey Zone
Toby / HS tools are unclear
Other
The milling machine is not-great, and position might change
The hammers desk, Ellis will look to sort out a bit, as it might be where the sandblaster goes
The area opposite the lathe is not being used well. The desk is obscuring the shelves, and is not used for much.
