| − | The D7 has suited the Hackspaces needs for the past few years however the printer has experienced issues with print quality in recent months and more innovative and higher quality alternatives are now available on the consumer market, as such the 3D printing maintenance team have reviewed currently available products and beleive this may be the current best alternative. The printer can operate at over twice the speed of the D7 (80mm/h v 35mm/h). The printer also boasts a better screen at 4K compared to the 1/2k screen of our existing printer. (depending on the version of the D7 purchased). The official resin for this printer is around £20 cheaper than the current resins we use which represents an ongoing saving over the existing printer. With maintenance on the D7 due to the way it's build replacing consumables like the LCD screen have a tendancy to actually break the printer as a whole. The sonic mini allows for easy repairs and disassembly of the unit making maintenance easy. Compared to our existing printer the monochrome LCD allows up to 4x longer screen lifetime further reducing ongoing costs.
